Precision Decompression Telemetry & Mechanical SPGs

We configure, bench-verify, and rent wrist-mounted decompression computers, high-pressure wireless transmitters, mineral-glass console SPGs, and liquid compasses at our Tampa workshop on North Tampa Street.

The Offer: Reliable Instrumentation Fitted Before Splash

Underwater telemetry is not the place for guessing battery voltage or squinting through scratched acrylic dials. At Budi Dive, every diver renting or purchasing instrumentation receives hardware configured to their personal breathing rate and target decompression profile. We refuse to hand out uncalibrated gauges from a bin.

We fit multi-gas wrist computers running verifiable decompression algorithms, braided high-pressure swivels fitted with Viton O-rings, and heavy nickel-plated brass SPGs that survive Florida limestone cavern scrapes and Gulf charter decks alike.

The Instrumentation Calibration Journey

Five deliberate stages every computer and pressure instrument follows before leaving our bench.

Phase 1 • Pressure Vessel Validation

Hyperbaric Chamber Testing

Each rental computer enters our freshwater hyperbaric test chamber. We pressurize the chamber to 4.0 bar (30 meters equivalent) for 15 minutes to confirm depth sensor accuracy, leak-free casing seals, and button responsiveness under hydrostatic load.

Depth Check ±0.2 M
Test Pressure 4.0 BAR
Chamber Hold 15 MIN
Phase 2 • Battery & Telemetry Diagnostics

Cell Voltage & RF Pairing

Lithium cells undergo load voltage tests. Any battery testing below 3.0V under active backlight draw is recycled and replaced. Wireless high-pressure tank transmitters are paired and checked for radio frequency signal stability at 1.5 meters separation.

  • Minimum 3.0V load voltage threshold before dispatch.
  • O-ring seat cleaned and lubricated with Christo-Lube MCG 111.
  • Clean paired telemetry sync on bench before student handoff.
Phase 3 • Mechanical SPG Bench Sweep

Deadweight Pressure Comparison

Mechanical gauges are plumbed into our workshop calibration manifold. We sweep pressure from 0 to 200 bar against our master test gauge to verify needle linearity. Any gauge showing more than 5 bar deviation is removed from service.

Tolerance threshold across full scale: ±2.5% Maximum
Phase 4 • Gas Mix & Gradient Programming

Diver Profile & Conservative Setup

We match your instrument to your dive profile. For Nitrox dives (200–225 USD certification syllabus or guided excursions), we set the PO2 cap to 1.4 bar and program conservative gradient factors (such as 40/70) tailored to repeated coastal entries.

Instructor Verification & Credential Proof

Telemetry hardware at Budi Dive is maintained directly by a credentialed NAUI Instructor active under verifiable membership since 2026. Every gauge configuration adheres strictly to NAUI technical standards and manufacturer service bulletins. We keep written calibration logs on site at 803 North Tampa Street for every rental unit and shop regulator package.

Addressing Diver Objections

Wireless transmitters offer exceptional dive profile logging, but radio frequency signals can drop around high-current salt layers or steel wreck bulkheads. A mechanical brass-and-glass SPG never suffers battery drain or RF interference. Redundant pressure verification is non-negotiable on our trips.

No. We require every diver renting our computers to spend ten minutes on the bench reviewing ascent rate alarms, no-decompression limits, safety stop timers, and gas switching menus. Diving an instrument you cannot read under stress is a preventable hazard.

Our rental computers are not configured for mixed-gas trimix or hypoxic technical expeditions below 40 meters. They are dedicated to sport recreational diving, Enriched Air Nitrox (up to 40% O2), and advanced decompression procedures within certified recreational limits.
